"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" is a 2012 fantasy adventure film directed by Peter Jackson, based on the first half of J.R.R. Tolkien's novel "The Hobbit". The film is set 60 years before the events of "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy and follows the journey of Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman), a hobbit who joins a group of dwarves on a quest to reclaim their treasure from the dragon Smaug.
