The film is based on the true story of Ray Kroc (played by Michael Keaton), a struggling salesman who discovers McDonald's, a small burger joint run by the McDonald brothers (Dick McDonald, played by Nick Offerman, and Mac McDonald, played by John Carroll Lynch). Kroc is impressed by the efficiency and speed of their operation and sees an opportunity to franchise the restaurant.
