The film takes place immediately after the events of Saw III. Jeff Denlon (Angus Macfadyen), the protagonist of Saw III, is still seeking revenge against John Kramer (Tobin Bell), also known as Jigsaw or The Engineer, for the death of his son. However, Jigsaw's plan is still in motion, and he has one final test for Jeff.
