The movie is a prequel to L. Frank Baum's classic novel "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" and tells the story of Oscar "Oz" Diggs (played by James Franco), a magician who becomes embroiled in a battle between good and evil in the Land of Oz. The story begins with Oz, a traveling magician who performs in circuses and on stage. After a tornado transports him and his dog Toto to the Land of Oz, Oz meets the beautiful and kind-hearted Theodora (played by Michelle Williams) and her sister Munchkin, Nikko (played by Nathan Jones).
