The story takes place after the events of the previous film. Mike Banning (Gerard Butler), a loyal and skilled Secret Service agent, is tasked with protecting the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, David Barlow (Hugh Robertson), during his visit to the United States. However, things take a deadly turn when the Prime Minister is killed in a terrorist attack, and Banning is framed for the crime.
