The movie revolves around the character of Shiv Panditt (played by Hrithik Roshan), a young and carefree college student who is coerced into joining the Indian Army by his girlfriend, Roma (played by Preity Zinta). Shiv is initially hesitant but eventually finds a sense of purpose and belonging in the army.
