The film follows Major Motoko Kusanagi (Scarlett Johansson), a highly skilled cyborg policewoman who works for a counter-terrorism unit known as Section 9. Kusanagi, also known as "the Major," is an augmented human with a cybernetic body, which gives her enhanced strength, agility, and reflexes.
