The game's story mode, "Rise of New Champions," takes place in a fictional world where Tsubasa Ozora and his friends are now young adults, and a new generation of soccer players emerges. The game follows the story of Eden, a young and talented player who becomes the main protagonist, as he joins the historic Nankatsu Middle School soccer team, led by Tsubasa Ozora.
